Benefits of lemon

BY: TERESA MARTÍNEZ

A few days ago I went to visit my friend Martha Burke and look for her delicious lemons from Camellia Groves, in Winter Haven. While we enjoyed a delicious lemonade, he explained to me many properties of this citrus fruit which I share here with you. I already knew that lemon is known worldwide for its high vitamin C content and a natural option to fight the flu and colds, but now I know that its benefits go beyond these conditions. Lemon has multiple health benefits.

It improves the immune system. The level of vitamin C in the body is one of the first things to weaken when you are stressed or feel unwell; that's why experts recommend taking an extra portion of vitamin C for these symptoms.

Excellent source of potassium.

Lemon is high in potassium, therefore, it is good for the health of the heart, brain and nerve functions.

It helps the digestive system.

Lemon juice stimulates healthy digestion as it loosens toxins in the digestive tract. It also helps to relieve the symptoms of indigestion such as heartburn and belching.

Clean your blood system.

It helps regenerate your liver thanks to the promote the formation of new enzymes. The liver, on the other hand, helps to remove toxins from the blood.

Refresh your breath.

Lemons fight halitosis because they are an astringent and bactericidal.

It is an ally of the skin.

It helps the formation of collagen. The antioxidants in lemon juice help with wrinkles. It can also be applied to sun and age scars and stains to reduce their appearance, and as it detoxifies your blood it will give you radiant skin.

It helps you lose weight.

Lemons contain pectin fiber that helps control hunger. In addition, it is a diuretic drink, which causes the body to eliminate the accumulation of liquids, thus helping to dewell.

Reduce inflammation.

Lemon is a diuretic. Drinking water with lemon in the morning decreases the acidity in the body and helps to remove uric acid in the joints, one of the main causes of inflammation.

Quench thirst.

We all know that there is nothing better on a hot day than a good lemonade!

The best thing about Camellia Groves is that its cute and juicy lemons have no seeds, they are as organic as possible and totally free of pesticides.

In Camellia Groves they have times of the year where they have "UPicks" so they can go with their family, pick them up from the tree and also buy their jellies and their famous "Lemon Aioli". (25% discount if pre-ordered between September and December 2022)
