HONOR TO WHOM HONOR IS DUE
Dr. Pedro Almazán.
Sheriff Grady Judd honored Dr. Pedro Almazán for 40 years as an honorary member of the Polk County Sheriffs Association.Dr. Almazán and his family were among the first Cubans to arrive in the town of Bartow in 1968. He worked as a veterinarian at Kaplan Industries until his retirement. Among his many contributions to our community, is his legacy as the creator of the tradition of Christmas lights that began on George Street, corner of Kissingen Ave, sharing for decades the Christmas spirit that today extends for miles with artistically decorated houses and thousands of spectators who pass slowly to delight in the beauty of what is now called: "Christmas Lane".
